Before starting my fitness journey at Stronger For Longer, I viewed exercise as a chore. I would start fad exercise plans and not stick to them after a week. I was terrified of joining a gym due to anxiety, low confidence and the idea of large classes put me off. How wrong was I? Before moving to Scarborough I was a regular cyclist, but that hasn’t been the case recently. I also like surfing, but I don’t really count that as exercise. I always viewed gyms as a place for big guys who look in the mirror whilst pumping iron - that has never appealed to me.

I contacted Steve to finally make the leap and start a regular exercise pattern. I was starting to feel weak which didn’t feel great! The sessions are challenging but in a way that makes you feel great afterwards!

With Steve's guidance, I now see exercise as a positive thing, nutrition is a bit more challenging for me, but again with Steve's help and guidance - we're working on that as we speak!

Prior to starting at SFL I was incredibly unfit and overweight. I was constantly tired and not able to keep up with my youngest daughter.

I have always enjoyed exercise and been a member of various gyms and boot camps. I had a bad experience which made me lose confidence in any ability to exercise - particularly in front of people; so, I just stopped, and comfort ate.

Getting through the door at Stronger For Longer was difficult. I was worried I was going to be laughed at. This WASN'T the case. I was really welcomed by everyone and made to feel part of the community which helps make you feel valued.
